A LITTLE CAMERA HELP

How to Find Your Digital Camera’s Exact Model

Start with the complete model name on the front or bottom of the camera. A family name such as PowerShot, COOLPIX or Cyber-shot helps narrow the search, but the full model number determines the parts.

Use the camera label first.

Look for the letters and numbers together: SD1000, ELPH 180 or DSC-W55. Do not use a serial number, color, megapixel count or a battery code as the camera model.

Check regional names.

Some cameras were sold under different names. Canon PowerShot SD1000 is also listed in this finder as IXUS 70; Canon PowerShot ELPH 180 is also IXUS 175. Use only the aliases documented in the exact model’s guide.

A similar name is a different starting point.

For example, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 uses Memory Stick Duo-family cards, while Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W350 includes an SD/SDHC option. Open each model’s own guide before buying.

If the model is missing.

Check the spelling and search the manufacturer’s manual. This finder keeps unfinished models out of the accessory recommendations until their parts have been checked.
